The Blind Assassin
by Margaret Atwood
I've read quite a few of Margaret Atwood's books over the years, and this, for me, is the best so far.
The chosen style of narration works very well, and helps the storyline progress in a very effective manor. I found it very easy to lose myself into the story and was eagerly turning the pages to find out what was going on, but without wanting to miss any of the details which have been laid down.
I have read a few other Booker Prize winning books in the past, but few have been as easy to read and enjoyable as this.
My rating: Excellent

The Blind Assassin
Not to undermine the comment made earlier, but I tend to disagree with what was written.
I found 'The Blind Assassin' to be tediously long and that too much detail was added when it was not required.
I'm not trying to say that it wasn't a good book and in some parts it was definately a 'page - turner' but a lot could have been edited out. For example, a lot of Iris' new past times chosen by Winifred could have had a lot less description and the way she felt about certain situations or people.
Although, this won the Booker Prize, this does not make it a 'must read'.
My rating: Fair

The Blind Assissin
I am 80 and since the age of 17 when I learned to read with the aid of Dickens I have never come across a book as boring TBH. It should have been called 'An author in Search of Plot' I can make no sense of the writing, except perhaps that Margaret Atwood wrote to exercise her command of English, and to use words and phrases as an experiment for future writing. Is there a plot ?

The Blind Assassin
I loved this. I thought is was well written and clever. No wonder it won the Booker prize! I like a book to surprise me and this did. The essence of a good writer is not just the story but the way that story is told and this is just marvellous. Excellent.
