The Old Man and the Sea

I didn't read this for the story. I read it because it is supposed to be a classic book. And it is.

The story is, I think, well known. At least I think I recognized it. What is shocking is how good the writing is... sort of perfect. Soothing, almost.

  I found the story anything but "soothing'. For me it is the perfect answer to those who question why I hunt defenseless fish and animals. The Old Man understands the true symbiotic nature of the hunter/prey relationship. But I doubt if I could get anyone to read it as a reply to their question.
