Some essential travel tips

Travel shouldn’t be a pain, in fact it should be an adventure. But if you don’t prepare for travel effectively you could find that you end up living a nightmare as things go wrong all over the place.

This article looks at some essential travel tips that will help you become a better, more prepared traveller, and one who gets more out of travelling around the world. You won’t break a sweat, no matter how hot the climate.

Reserve a seat

It is amazing how many people don’t reserve a seat on public transport, from buses to aeroplanes. You want to make sure you have the best seat available (and in the case of trains, any seat will do). Take the time to ensure that you reserve a seat a soon as you book any travel on transport.

This way you will have a good seat that will help in longer journeys. And if you want to be near a window when flying  long haul, make sure you get that seat before you do anything else.

Don’t prepay unless it makes sense

We are often faced with travel bookings that look like amazing bargains when we first see them. This is particularly true of accommodation. But the discounts may come at a price. If you see a huge discount on a booking just look a little closer at the fine print.

It may say that cancellations are not allowed. When you pay any money, you need to know the full cancellation policy, because if you have to cancel you will need to know exactly how much notice period you have to give before refunds are voided. Even a partial refund is better than none, but you will fall down unless you know exactly where you stand.

In the meantime, don’t prepay until you have read every bit of fine print about the accommodation you are booking.

Bed Bugs

As a seasoned traveller you have probably heard all the horror stories about bed bugs. The scary thing is that these stories are true, and that bed bugs are a real problem, especially in certain parts of the world. However, the way they are carried is largely misunderstood. If you have a bag in a hotel room for example, make sure you don’t place it on a bed. Even the cleanest hotel rooms in the world may have bed bugs (it’s not about hygiene) and you need to ensure that your bags are always placed on upholstered furniture to be safe.

So there are some essential travel tips for you to be thinking about as you make your way around the world. Remember that preparation is key, and the more ready you are for the trip, the better. Take the time to know what you need and ensure that your journey is not going to cost  more than it should and you should be fine.

Traveling is meant to be fun, so don’t let it be a nightmare simply because you have ignored the above tips. Enjoy the idea of traveling by all means, but ensure you are ready for it.
